BigHead50 is an unknown quantity at this point
it could be a number of things but I would try this first, make sure that your new modem is set to the same irq and com# if possible. some modems won't work correctly unless you disable the com port in the motherboard bios and then set the modem to that port-(disable com 2 in bios and then start windows and install the modem to com 2)you also may have a conflict with another irq or some hardware just doesn't like other hardware. chek irq usage by going to contol panel/system/device manager then doble click on computer at the top and see what irqs are being used by what and maybe be able to see a conflict.
I'm not sure of what else to check right now, but will post again if I think of something.
