if u got enough money (US$ 299) then i recommend you to buy the Dazzle* Digital Video Creator II external hardware device. it is so easy to use. real time MPEG2 encoding and a lot of stuff. check

P.S: i use the Dazzle* DVC I as at the time i bought it, the DVCII wasn't available. now i suffer not buying the DVCII cos, it came soon after i bought the DVCI. note that DVCI only encodes to MPEG1 (VCD Quality) but the DVCII encodes to MPEG2 (DVD Quality).
