i have the same problem with my switchbox at home (2PC). I think the problem is the switchbox. by cheaper switchboxes often the contacts are corrupted, like mine at home . i solved this problem by switching between the two pc's and after 3 or 4 times keyboard and mouse are ready to use again.

but maybe your hardware configuration needs a special box with mouse and keyboard emulation.
