i just finished working on a gateway PIII pc. everything was fine until i took it over to a friend's house to use. windows was in the process of shutting down when a blue screen came on for a split second, then the pc rebooted itself. it didnt do this at my house so i dont see what couldve caused this to happen. it was plugged in a power strip so i tried it without the strip but no change.
if anyone has had this problem, or knows how to fix it, please help....thanks! |
Have you tried booting into "safe mode".........
Something may have come "lose" during transportation...Check your cables/cards etc..... Can you "boot" to a DOS prompt???? Maybe your windows Installation has become corrupted.... What OS are you running??? |
Maybe one card is not correctly inserted in his slot after the transport ;)
|
More than likely it has to do with recent changes to the system. start there
|
I had to reinstall Windows 2000. no changes were made to BIOS. I also removed his CD-Burner as it wasnt working properly. i'll recheck the cards and see about booting it in safe mode...thanks.
btw, how can i boot to a DOS prompt? |
