I note that SuSE v 7.3 says it can cohabit with win xp, whereas the notes on the SuSE web site say version 8 can coexist with Win98 and Me.
Anybody try to install it yet? I started the install process on my WinXP system but it would't give me selection of partitions to install to. |
Not wanting to risk my WinXP setup, I unhooked my 2 hd's and installed a spare hd.
SuSE 8 is installed. The network connection to the router was easy. Having trouble configuring the e-mail client, but that's because I'm like a blind man walking in a London Fog. The SuSE install is slick. Haven't tried Linux since an old Mandrake version I tried several years ago. |
Behind a LinkSys 4 port router. Internet connection works but can't seem to configure Linux to see the LAN.
Anyone help? |
I feel like a fly out in the Sahara
I'm now trying to figure out how to burn a cd from a bin/cue file. Anybody? |
The flea says, maybe Uncle Willy got it right years ago. No wonder nobody is standing in line for another o/s. Maybe I'll even set asside some buckeronies for a legit copy of WinXP.
Even so, it's fun trying out this Linux system. Sure a lot of work and sweat went into it. There's so many alternative systems that at least it will keep a mind nimble just keeping track of stuff. Guess I'll sign off on this lonely post. Put back my WinXP hd and drive on. Might be useful to install some hd trays to make such testing easier. |
You can use cdrdao to burn bin/cue files.
Or you can convert them to iso format with bchunk, and use cdrecord. Hope this helps. |
