Memtest86 is thorough, stand alone memory test for x86 architecture computers. BIOS based memory tests are only a quick check and often miss many of the failures that are detected by Memtest86.

I use this one as well...It's caught a couple of "bad" sticks in the past...All my mates use it as well...

I tryed  a prog for some time ago   but it took many hours  to test

I don't think it's faster. Haven't tried it, but the memorytesters doing thorough tests are often recommended to be run over night (or whenever you sleep and aren't using the machine :))

Microsoft have a thing for you testers also, do a search for windiag.
