Hi All,
As far as i have experienced i guess the Setup GUI in XP SP1 defaults to 800X600 to give that "greater user eXperience". That gives a problem to ppl like me who want the resolution to stay at 640X480 for a reason. Does any kind soul know how can u change that during Setup? Please lemme know. Thanks in advance. Lotoman. |

Somewhere I read that it by default goes back to 640... if it can't identify a capable graphic adapter.
Have you tried it - ie what happens when you run the setup at a machine with nothin' but standard VGA? |
That is of course logical. It shd. And i can bet it does. But that's not the question.
A std. primitive graphic card supporting only 640X480 will display only that. But the idea is to find out if an option exists to lower the resolution to that in a more powerful card installed in the system. Lotoman. |
Lol, Second mistake in this thread on my side... I clicked thanks instead of reply...
So: Ok, I should have paid more attention to the end of your first post "...for a reason.". I appearently misunderstood your question at first glance. No, I'm not gonna guess what reason this might be, and sorry, I have never thought about it. |
Hi Friend,
I ve been in such a position with an old vga monitor that doesnt accept 800*600 or over 60 Hz. I had to press F8 at each boot and start Win Xp in VGA mode. Maybe you could have a look at boot.ini I'm searching. Good Luck |
