Is there any type of software (or troubleshooting procedures) that will check a CD-RW drive and figure out what is wrong with it? It just quit working. Burned a perfect copy yesterday, and today keeps getting "medium errors" on different OSs' and different Burn programs.

zonko,
Found this: h**p://www.eciusa.com/driveeasy.htm The site I found it from said there was a trial version but I could not find it on the site. Found the review here: h**p://www.prweb.com/releases/2001/9/prweb28281.php Maybe some other members have heard of similar software. Hope this helps some...:) /JD |
This is probably a useless suggestion, but just make sure that the drive is firmly plugged into your motherboard. I spent two weeks trying to fix a DVD drive and finally realized that its cable was loose. And two more questions -
1. What kind of burner do you have? 2. How old is it? Sorry that I can't be of more help. |

I tested this thing (ricoh 6x4x20, burned 100's) every which way and its dead. Long live the I/O Magic 24x10x40 (lite-On) that was mislabeled at circuit city for...........$59.99...next day...$79.99
Yaaaaaaaahoooooo fast as a rocket Zo |
my writer is the same also. it depends on my writer mood swing if i want to burn a cd without errors or disappoint.
most of the time it would tell me power calibration error. but the same disc i use it again on another day on the same drive.it worked. |
