Got a BT Ethernet Router at work sitting here. I can't access it to change the setup (ie setup IP Forwarding etc.) I know it is 'locked down' by BT, is there any way of changing this so I can configure it? Or is this infringing on the policy of this forum? If so, ignore this bit :)
The only other option is to get a decent router. Any suggestions? On a silver label: Model 5861 Part Number: 120-5861-003 Under a barcode: W1349436 Thats about it. All I can do is log in to connect or disconnect. No configure options. Looks like this (black though) 4 ethernet ports on the back, one DSL line link. ![]() |
Try getting into the router using dos...Http-ing into a router limits your options

Yea.. telnet might work too, i've telnetted into a modem b4.. and some modems/routers use software to configure them as well. just try to see where it stands.

OK how would I go about doing that. Any useful URL's you could recommened me? Once I have Telnetted into it, then what? What about if it asks for a user/pass?
There is no software for the modem to configure it. |
The router is made by Efficient Networks.
Try logging into the router using http://192.168.1.1:8080 (Replace the address as neccesary) When you get to a screen try one of these user\password combo's:

Originally posted by: admin Admin admin Admin 4getme2 Admin hs7mwxkk Admin admin Admin admin Admin

If that fails try connecting to the router by telnet. From the command prompt type 'telnet o 192.168.1.1' with out the quotes and try those combo's of user\passwords. When you eventually log into the router you are on your own i am afraid, unless someone here is conversant with telnet and can help you. |
Thanks DoG next time I'm in I'll have a go
