Howdy Guys & Gals:

Yesterday, for the very first time :D, I set up a network consisting of my two computers using the network wizard in XP, a piece of RJ45 cable and an antique NIC. All seemed fine except the internet connection won't work on the secondary computer :angry:. The network card is in working order as files can be shared between the two machines.

There is another problem related to this and perhaps this should be posted somewhere else but this has interfered with Bulletproof FTP because I can't get the server to work from an outside machine. It's fine when I test it out. It was fine before networking the two machines.

do you get anykind of error or anything when you try and use the internet on the secound machine? also i assume both machines are running xp right?

Did you enable internet sharing on your computer connected to the internet??

No the internet just doesn't connect on the secondary machine

How would you do that? Assumed the wizard did that but maybe not and yes both machines are running XP.

To use the Internet Connection Sharing feature, users on your home or small office network should configure TCP/IP on their local area connection to obtain an IP address automatically. Home or small office network users must also configure Internet options for Internet Connection Sharing.
Notes

To open Network Connections, click Start, click Control Panel, click Network and Internet Connections, and then click Network Connections.
You must be logged on as an administrator or a member of the Administrators group in order to complete this procedure. If your computer is connected to a network, network policy settings may also prevent you from completing this procedure.
Internet Connection Sharing and Internet Connection Firewall cannot be enabled on incoming connections.

You may also try turning off the XP firewall, it tend to stop all kinds of connections.

OMG, that was it! The server is working now. It's funny there was never a problem with that friggen' firewall before but after networking it became one. Thank you!
