Is there anybody who has a link to a good description of how the CPU fan control is working, or who can tell me how it works? I'm would like to know what controls the speed of the fan, RPM. And also if this controller will work with any fan.

Regards

A controller??? When I got my fan, it didn't have any controller. I just plugged it in, and it started spinning...

If you listen to your fan you will most likely hear that the RPM is changing dependant of the CPU load, unless you have a CPU fan that is running directly from a 12 V source. I'm interested in what is controlling this. Is the voltage that is output on the CPU fan connector changing or is it a constant voltage?

If your MoBo supports it and has a temp and fan speed you can use Sandra MAX3
just install and 2X click on Mainboard info and scroll down.
