Hi!! I have windows xp home install on my 2.8 GHZ with 512DDR rams Dell computer. When ever I download a file from internet explorer and minimize the downloading window my computer totaly frezzes for about 30 to 40 seconds it also does it when I minize internet explorer but not as often when it does it you can pres control-alt-delete and nopthing happens!! I tried debuging and reformating the Hard drive (NTFS) and reinstall windows xp and all its driver and I still get the same problem. I also tried appling service pack# 1 and it still does it.

I also ran microsoft memory dignostic software to test my ram and it all past. Tried defrag and still no luck. Ran a full system scan with antivirus and pest patrol and system was found to be clean!! His anyone experiancing this problems and does anyone know how to fix this!!

I also have an ati 9700 radeon 128 meg video card, sound blaster live value, Haugpage wintv pvr 250/350 tv card, usb 2.0 card.

Just a thought what are your system restore settings at? Turned off or how much space.

It's a hardware problem, because you said that you formatted, and reinstalled everything. So....it has to be hardware related...but I don't know which piece. :(

Sytem restore is set at : It set at 9157MB and it at 12% and its turn on!!

I walk through your BIOS settings might turn up something.

I would turn it off or take it down to 1% see if that helps .

I disabled the sytem restore and still no luck. I even tried looking through the bios and everything seems fine!!

I know you said that you are running Xp Home did you install IIS as well?, Next question can you Turn on S.M.A.R.T on in BIOS? (If it supports it) You may have a bad drive. Have you tried a Download manager (i.e. DAP, IDM, etc ) I am curious if it just happening in IE or all.

XP Home doesn't have IIS :P

but the rest I agree with, also, have you installed anything that integrates with IE, popup blockers, like popupcop, etc.?
