As some of you know I had Road Runner for about a year, about three years ago. It sucked. My 56k is better.

But today about an hour ago I got a phone call saying that they finally fixed the problem and they want to give me 3 months for free including free install. No contract, nothing. Sounds pretty sweet and I will see Wednesday, July 16, 2003 if they really did finally fix it. God, I hope so. Also, they said they will guarantee 512kps down and 128kps up, and 99.95% uptime for the three months. Or we get a year free.

So they are very confident they finally fixed the bitch.

I just hope they really did. If not, well damn.

So guess they really where trying all along. Just took them a hell of a long time.

Only thing that sucks is that after three months is that it's $52 a month. When DSL just a mile away is is only $45 a month for 1.5mbps down and 512kps up. Time Warner is still a fucking rip off.

Just a little exicted and thought I would share my good news. Hopefully good news, that is. ;)

Wow, man..3 months free is nice even if the service still sux!!

I've been tempted to switch to dsl to save some $$$, but I have heard too many of my friends complain about the troubles they have occassionally with DSL; I have to say, I had ATT, and now its Comcast, and I get perfect service 99% of the time...
It IS expensive though, but we have cable tv service also, so they give you a little "break" on your NET service.
Cable modems are still the best bet, if u have a provider that has a high % of uptime.

Yea well when we tried it last time and it sucked, only like 35% up time as well.

DSL is a lot better here so. Just cant get it. They have promissed it would be here soon for the last three years. Its pretty sweet. Cheaper and faster. Its fast access DSL by bellsouth. I know a ton of people with it and they normally get 2-2.2mbps even though only paying for 1.5mbps. Really wish I had it. :(

my dsl modem started screwing up really bad over the past few days, it finally started going so slow it was almost as bad as 56k, and then I realized just how lucky I was to have broadband, until my new modem came in the mail today i was pulling my hair out, especially trying to download stuff, lol

damn i just got done tweaking my system..yea i had been ready so i had everything setting on my desktop ;)

anyways its going 1.9mbps or 1940 kbps down and 265 kbps up. :) big impvement over 56k :) Pretty damn sweet

So, Seph, was it a bad modem or operator error????

@war; awesum speeds, man..I occasionally get as high as 2200 down, but usually about 2000 or so..I pay for 1500, so I cant complain!
My upload speed does suck though... :unsure:

lol, either bad modem or line problem, called my isp, they looked at the line and did some work, then it got better, then earlier this morning it was slow again, as soon as i replaced the modem though this afternoon it's been fine since

and yeah, i wish my isp offered faster speeds, i'm getting 1500 down and 256 up, i'd like to be able to get 384 or 512 up

/me waits for other students to leave so i can close computer lab and go home

I can get 512up if i get wireless. Additional $14.95/month

At least for a year anyways.
