The Power Mac G5 is the world?s fastest personal computer and the first with a 64-bit processor ? which means it breaks the 4 gigabyte barrier and can use up to 8 gigabytes of main memory. The new G5 processor ? available at speeds up to dual 2GHz with a new ultrahigh-bandwidth system architecture featuring AGP 8X and PCI-X ? makes the Power Mac G5 a breakthrough in desktop processing power.
How fast is the world?s fastest personal computer? The new Power Mac G5 throttles past both the fastest Pentium 4 and a dual-processor Xeon workstation when tested using industry standard SPEC CPU 2000 benchmarks ? SPECfp_base2000 and SPECint_base2000 measure the speed of a single task ? either a floating-point calculation or an integer calculation ? executing on a single processor. The ?SPEC rate? metrics, which recognize multiple processors, more accurately demonstrate the performance of a dual processor system. ------------------------------------------------------------------ Processing ? 1.6GHz, 1.8GHz, or dual 2GHz PowerPC G5 microprocessors ? yeah saw this last week at apple.com .
from what i heard don't make a mistake by getting a NVIDIA GeForce FX 5200 Ultra with 64MB of DDR SDRAM. ;) |
They are impressive, but they should be at a whopping $3000US for the 2Ghz box, and then another $1300US for the matching 20 inch flat panel monitor. Yow! Don't even want to know what that comes to in Canadian. :o Maybe the lottery will finally pay off this week.

Quite a feat, and being an old Mac enthusiast, it's nic eto see them pulling ahead of that which is black and cold and evil(M$). :devil2: Now we just need to be able to build our own macs.

It looks really good and fast, but is the apple os really all that good, I have never tried it
|
Last I tried was like 7.1 or some shit. faqing sucked.
|
saw that specs last week... it was awesome....
very great technical specs.... but it will not be a family affordable machine.... me too... never touch a mac before.... the only mac that i had before was a Big Mac...... heehee...... |
nice specs indeed!
|
Damn it breathe... hahhhhhhhhhh.... huhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh... hahhhhhhh.. huhhhhhhh....
G5 WOW. :):):) www.appleinsider.com www.macrumors.com www.macosrumors.com |
Looks good..
But for that kind of money you can buy a lot of PC Power..... .................and you get a multi button Mouse..................LOL |
