i have two drives in my computer one as a backup.I went to install goback 3.01 for win xp it went through all the installation and when it came to reboot it would not boot i tried all i know to get it ti work but nothing.i decided to ghost an image back of my backup drive but i could not access either my main or my backup drive with ghost.No drives at all were showing When i put a '98 boot disk in and did a fdisk both drives came up as "non ????" some thing type of file system.I have years of work in this 26gigs and i need to know if it will be possible to do something so i can access this to get them all back

Your data is there. Whether or not you need to go to extreme measures to recover it remains to be seen. Your drives are probably formatted with NTFS which cannot be read in a DOS environment. You could try putting in your WINXP CD and booting the computer off of the CD, and do a repair install. Your data can be recovered with any number of recovery software, but I doubt that you are in that serious of a situation. Do you have an ERD? Winternals?

thankx for the reply i formatted my c drive and used r-fat studio and got all the files and progs of the 2nd drive onto the first i am now formattinf the second in winxp (strange it nows seems to have gone to drive letter F) then i will put all the files back onto the second and spend days putting them onto disk!
