My floppy drive will not refresh after reading a disk. After reading the contents of the first inserted floppy disk it will then keep showing the same contents for every other one inserted. The only way I have found that I can read another floppy is to reboot.
I am running Windows XP Professional.

Any help with this very annoying problem would be much appreciated....Thanks

I sometimes have this with my CD drive, what I would do is, take the floppy out, refresh My Computer and put the new one in... if that don't work... sorry, I have no idea...:(

Hi folks, this problem is the result of the "Disk Change" signal line failing. That could be either the Floppy drive, Floppy cable, or the Floppy controller on the MOBO. The easy way to prove which is the problem would be to swap each part in turn and see what resolves the problem.;)

Why not go the easy route first, simply try another floopydrive in your computer since they are so easy to take in and out. At least that way, if the 2nd drive works fine then you know where your problem lies.

Sounds like you have the ribbon cable plugged in backwards or shifted over a pin. (older floppy's didn't have the plug guide and that was a common problem)
