Very good point Zone, If there is a way around it, then most will adopt how they do business so they too can bypass the "most" part, but at least someone is making the attempt to stop these annoying phone calls

I mainly hate these phone calls because it takes forever for them to answer, and then, you have to hang up on them in order to shut them up.

I enjoy playing with these people. Of course Poolman would understand this after watching me at work. I remember one time they were trying to sell me magazines and I told them about a magazine that I knew they didn't have on their list.

Another time someone called about some policemans/firemans club or something and I asked them what bank they had an account at so I could deposit my money in it. They refused to tell me :lol:

Conversations go like this:

Caller: Hello, is *name* home?
Me: Who?
caller: *name*
me: who is this?
caller: so and so from blah blah
me: who are you looking for?
caller: *name*
me: what's your name?
caller: so and so
me: where are you from?
caller: *anytown*
me:what's this about?
caller: *gives pitch*
me: who are you looking for?
caller: *name*
me: Have you ever been in a turkish prison?
caller: ummm....is *name there*?
me: who?
caller: *name*
me: who's this?
caller: so and so.
me: I'm an excellent flyer... (in my best 'rainman' voice)
caller: ummm, ok....
me: have you ever seen a grown man naked?
caller: is *name* there?
me: who's this?

and so on and so on 'till they finally get fed up at which point I say:

"Take me off your list and do not call again or I will press charges" :rolleyes:

I have strung them along at times for 1/2 hour to 45 minutes before finally they get an idea that I am yanking their crank...and if they are busy with me then they are not making money selling to anyone else... :D :D :D

Oh ya I forgot to mention before about this little trick. My wife hates these people so she answers the phone and when they start off into their long speech she passes the phone off to me, but I wait until they are finished talking say:

"Hello, yes my wife just gave me the phone. Can you please repeat that for me. Thank you!" :D

Of course, while they are repeating it I try to stop them as many times as I can to ask them questions. Most questions not related to what they are talking about.
