I am trying to reorganize my 40 gig. I use it mostly for storage but at one time I did use it for a system disk with a 6 GB partition up front. Now I have deleted the old 6 GB partition and I am trying to resize the secondary partition to the whole size. When I start the operation, I get an error that says file count greater than 4 billion and the deleted 6GB remains unallocated. If I clean out my other partition, will it work better or is there something else causing this?

According to windows, there are 18,968 files and 1,692 folders, so what gives?

If I read your post correctly..

you want to resize to full 40G ?

if that is the case.. why not fdisk and fresh format?

I may have to, but I have a lot of data to back up. About 15 GB. Some is redundant, so there are hours of sorting involved. I am slowly gaining ground in freespace. :o :p
