818529: June 2003, Cumulative Patch For Internet Explorer 6 Service Pack 1
I am not sure If I am the only one this has effected, but when I install this patch, MSN Messenger will not recognize any of my sign-on names, windows update will not run properly the scan just shoots to 100%, no updates available, when I know there are because my other 2 computers got updates, hotmail would not let me sign in. As soon as I removed the update everything went back to normal |
After the stinking Q811493 so-called patch slowed my system to a crawl, I will never load windows Updates again. I'll wait for the service packs to be released. How can such a half-assed O.S. put together with spit and glue got so damn popular? Are we all that stupid as to accept this garbage?

A great many users don't have a problem with Windows XP, i know some people who are still running the first release without any service packs, just as i know some people who are running Sp1 with all updates. If you don't like Windows XP then maybe it's time to move to Linux??

I had absolutely no problem with XP until I loaded the above mentioned fix. I'll admit XP is pretty solid, just like 2000. We had a beta 3 version of 2000 loaded on a no-name laptop and we couldn't make it crash, believe me we tried! It seems MS finally has a decent OS after all these years, but then there are those patches! Aaah! I was just ranting about their "patches that fix one problem and at the same time create another problem" fixes, that's all.
I have tried Red Hat Linux 6, 7 and 9. They are getting better, especially version 9, with so much more hardware support. With V9, before I had a chance to set up an Internet connection, it was already online getting the latest fixes! They have come along way. |
