I received the player yesterday and have been playing
with it for several hours. The first thing I did was download the latest firmware from the Kiss home web site and loaded it into my new toy... The player came to me region free, I have tried both US and European DVD's and they all play no problem. Then for the big test...divx !!! I can say 20000% that this player played ALL the standards of divx encoded stuff that I could throw at it... It plays all encoded formats.... It plays 3.11 encoded right up to the latest 5.05 codec movies No problems at all........ B) B) I then tried XVID format..... again no problems at all... With progressive scanning technology the picture quality on my digital Television is excellent..!!! I then tried the usual VCD, SVCD, CVD etc, etc.... Again.... IT PLAYS them all.... This player plays every single format that exists in regards Movie formats.  The Lan proved a little more trick to set up.... But finally I got there... The player plays all the streaming radio channels via the Kiss Radio web site... In regards Playing divx directly from your computer without burning to a cd..... it's fantastic.... It does it all acting like a DVD film JukeBox !!! I can say hand on heart that this bit of kit is the 'dogs bollocks' .... A British saying for fantastic and wonderful... It has been the single most great investment that I have ever made... Is it worth parting with your cash for ??? The answer is, YES, YES and YES again   For those of you who live in the good old USA, the Kiss player is available Stateside, it plays both PAL and American TV Standards no problems... and yes it can be unlocked for all DVD World Regions... But it's real joy is being able to play divx, films which can be downloading off the internet and burn't without any modification on to cheap CD's....!!!!! JOY... no hours of encoding to svcd etc  Don't believe the literature and maybe's... I have tested it....!!! It does what it says on the box.... As I final test I used Dr Divx to convert a DVD to divx 5 and then used Nero to burn the film to a cheap CD.... No probs here too... if you buy the Kiss divx player.. Dr Divx is a must have software. One final point, Kiss say as new divx codecs come out, the player will be able to cope with them via a firmware upgrade... Untill a few days back the player could not cope with the 3.03 codec (the main method that most internet movies are encoded) When I applied the new firmware...all was OK !! My advice folks is go out and buy one now..... You won't regret it :) B) :P Link for buying in the USA: http://www.audiovengeance.com/Mercha..._Code=DP500020 or http://www.mtsbs.com/ and http://www.1-877camcorder.com/dp500.html I searched for a good half an hour for dealers in the USA and these are the only ones that I could find.. For you in the States I hope this helps...!!! |
Thanks for the update on this :D
I'm really thinking of getting one, but I have an xbox which I use to play divx/svcd, etc films on that I download from the internet then transfer to the xbox hard drive using flashfxp and use the media player to play them on So far they have all worked Would this give me better quality do you think? |
I don't have an xbox, so I can't really comment...
In regards quality though, this player is far better at playing DVD's and normal SVCD's and VCD's and remember it is the only DVD Standalone that can play divx formats... I have a Sony DVD and Phillips recordable DVD too and the Kiss Player, because of its progressive scan technology is far more superior and cheaper too... Well worth the £250 Pounds.. |
sweetness i am definately going to buy one!!
|
OK thanks I will get one :D
