Hi :)
In a test network, we have 3 different FTP-ServU 2.5x running, with encrypted passwords. now the time has comed to merge these 3 userbases, and maybe move to a different FTP program. The problem is : it's WAY to many users to do this manually, and I'm looking for a tool that will let me export the user bases, and add them all to 1 base, that in turn should be imported into a new server proggy. While testing, I have been able to do a "upgrade" into ServU 4.x on one of them, but that wont let me import the other 2. So, any inputs are appreciated, could be some nifty little utill out there, or a FTP server prog, able to import all my 3 bases. /BC |
dont know of one but this is really something I have been trying to find myself
I pray that there is a prog for this ;) |
May the FTP god's be with us, on this search for the holy grail :D

hey BC :)
this is just a thought, but servU keeps it database in ServuDaemon.ini (v4), you could try to upgrade all 3, one at a time (so all 3 servers use same format in .ini file making everything smooth as possible ;)), then rename (1 at a time also) each to a diferent domain/server, and finally, just copy-paste from the 3 .ini files their domain/users section to only 1 .ini and test it (maybe) in a new server install (offcourse with full backups of everysingle1 before messing with it :sailor: maybe this is not so clear cause of my english, lol :D just an ideia, dunno if it will work fine tho, but if it's a large users database in each server, it sure is worth to try :drunk: also, servU is very popular, as you know ;) and many ftp servers develop companys are offering tools to import the servu user DB to a different server proggy, maybe could try to contact the company of the future serv prog you want to use  |
LOL nnux, you've got an obsession with smileys. :)

cant control myself, i just  them HEHE :horse:

Hola nnuxx, mi amigo :)
You have a good idea, and I migt just do it that way, upgrading each setup, then merge the inifiles. Lets see what I'm able to do, without violating any sofware licences, if/when I have time for this test. /BC |
The only prog ur gonna be able to upgrade to is Serv-U...since passes are encrypted ( MD5 I believe in Serv-U ), there's no way anything will be able to read them.

It seems like I *might* be able to import the userbase into RaidenFTPd
http://www.raidenftpd.com/en/download.html Anyone who has tried this utillity and/or the Raiden FTP deamon and have any hints for me ? |
