Which DVDs are considered the better ones now.??
Pioneer, Toshibe, LiteOn....or others???

Are any better than others for reading copy protections for burning CDs ??

Would like some opinions on various Models

Hi Folks, generally the DVD ROM stuff is being replaced by DVD-RW burners at this point. The new burners will also do CD-RW disks as well. Looks like this will be the "Mainstream" Standard of the future. Current stuff out there is from HP and Sony. The others are working on units also.

I just want to replace my CD-rom and an looking for a DVD Rom as a replacement

Well if your are into copying pc games and audio cds I suggest the newest Plextor Drive. It has a dvd combo in it. If you are into ripping movies then I suggest Pionneer Dvd-rom. What ever drive you get just make sure you can hack the firmware and make it a multi-regional dvd player.
