New computer built and tested..this is bad!
It runs fine, but every 30 sec's (approx) it will lock-up/pause/freeze for a second. Everything locks up....the its fine. In task manager, the cpu spikes upwards of 30 to 70 % then goes back to normal. It never over heats. Never shuts down. Never acts weird....! Just freezes. Can anyone save my puter from certain death?? :( Here ya go's.... AMD 2400+ @ 2100 Mhz. TRYJAY, I'm going to delete your Software Support post of "My new computer doesn't like me? "
No need for two of them. user needs |
maybe a little software info as well? are you using winXP? and what anti-virus software are you running?
when your pc freezes and the taskmanager shows cpu spiking, did you check what causes the spikes? is it Explorer? or some other stuff. btw, if it is winxp you're running, did you install SP1? and did you install some service pack named 8530.... or something rather (i know it begins with an "8" for sure). a lot of ppl have reported that after installing that service pack their xp runs slower, freezes more often, and is just not itself. |

2. Yes XP PRO 3. How do I check...it happens so quick, I almost miss the spike. 4. Running xp pro with sp2 installed. 5. As for the 8530 or starts with an 8, not in my computer, I looked. |

I have the SP2 installed and I see no problems <_<
If you remove SP2 and your pc is ok after, let me know ;) |
in xp check the eventviewer.
you might get some info on that start->run->eventvwr Regards KK |
I have an MSI KT4 Ultra that freezes once in awhile for reasons I still haven't figured out. I have a second pc with an A7V8X mobo. Both pc's have XP/SP-1 set up pretty much the same with all of the secuity patches. The Asus never freezes.
I uninstalled a hotfix, not the number referred to above because of IE6 crashes during editing of Reply messages on the Asus and it seemed to stop that. Didn't write it down and can't seem to locate the tread on B1. The MSI has an ATI AIW card, the Asus has an MSI low end Gforce 4MX card in it. That doesn't help, but we could go drink beer and bitch about it. :) |
