Hi,

I am running Windows XP Professional Version 2002 SP2 v1204 and today my LITEON 48x CDRW suddenly got vanished. This is a pic in Device Manager and i tried the following:
Scan for hardware changes
Restarted Windows
Disabled and Re-enabled the hardware

But no result. I went to Windows XP Professional Version 2003 and the CDRW was displayed nicely as usual in My Computer. So I am sure it is a problem with the Operating System. This is my third time. Annyjay perhaps could remember the second time.

If you know any solution, please be kind enough to pass it to me. :)

Try removing any and all burning apps. Reinstall them.

that is what I would try if a restore or lastknowgood config didn't work. Also, wondering whether these are the new drivers posted here:

Try removing all of them. Reboot and let windows find them.

It has worked for me in the past.

I would check the scsi connection, possibly bad? Maybe try switching around the configuration on your board, that way you will know if it is hardware or an OS problem. I accidently deleted my generic video display driver on my laptop and had to do a complete reinstall.

WoW! I am impressed. Thank you very much for all the replies! :)

I tried the one with has least trouble. Uninstalling the device and let the Windows re-recognize it. I didn't alteast Restart!
I just went to Device Manager; Uninstalled the two devices; clicked Scan for Hardware Changes and it found them! :D
Anyway I am downloading the latest firmware update http://www.liteonit.com.tw/webfw/LTR-48125W/R48VS0D.zip just in case. :)

Thanks again!

Yes, McoreD, wasn't it a software issue that time too? Glad you got it fixed, must keep a note of user needs' remedy. :D
