"Creative PlayCenter 2 has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience."
*********************************** Soon my soundcard, SB Live 5.1, will end up in a garbagecan. What´s wrong, XP or SB Live 5.1. Could anyone explain. Yesterday i tried to rip a music-cd in my other computer, a super7-board FIC 503A, K6-2/550Mhz running 3590 and with an old ISA-soundcard...Soundblaster AWE64 gold. I used Audio_Converter ver.4 and it was rock solid, no problem at all. But on this computer also a super7-board, Epox-mvp3G5, K6-2/550Mhz but with SB Live 5.1 running XP Pro I will have a bluescreen(win32k.sys) in 1 or 2 minutes when trying the same rip. I tried to rip with Audio Converter with the same result. And this fu...ing Playcenter will drive me crazy. I appreciate all your help :) (I just run memtest without any complaints!) Cheers IB |
yeah playcenter is evil.
i tried using it but i couldnt take the hassel. i never encountered you problem but it was hjust to buggy for me i guess. i just went back to jukebox. btw, im running w2k so it must not be an xp thing. |
Have you tried uninstalling playcenter and just using the drivers for the device? Understand that playcenter is -software- and not needed for the device to work. I would:
Try uninstalling only Playcenter first. Reboot and see of your audio is still working. If your audio is not working, then remove the drivers from the hardware manager under the system icon in your control panel. Reinstall the drivers ONLY. Don't run the executable with the drivers unless you have to and if you can, OPT OUT of installing Playcenter. Playcenter is a bunch of fluff. You can probably find the drivers in a folder labeled for XP or NT or 2000 of something like that. Use "add hardware" from the control panel after the device has been removed and point it directly at the folder that has the drivers to install them. If this gives you trouble, try removing the device in the hardware manager as before and just let XP find and add the device on it's own. VERY IMPORTANT: After it installs that standard drivers, run Windows Update in the program menu and it will update to the current WHQL certified drivers for the card. If you have a VIA motherboard, then make sure your 4 in 1 drivers are up to date too. |
I would try the new updated drivers out for the Playcenter it is a upgrade patch! That may help you out m8, if not use another ripper!!

I had so many problems with my s'blaster 5.1 live platinum for months. I finally got the new CD that Ceative has issued for the live series with good WinXP compatibility.
This solved most of the problems, but it also dropped several features that worked perfectly in WinME. |
