Secret Folder Messages

This tutorial is how to use DOS to hide secret messages on folders in Windows 95, 98, 2000, XP

As Most of you may know you can use registry class ID's as a file/folder extension to change the folder or file's properties and or functions. This is such a simple way to hide secret messages that some of you may not of ever thought about it. To hide a secret message just make it look like a convincing CLASSID. Something maybe like {im-watching-you-dumbass}. After you make your CLASSID just add it to the end of a folder like this:

secretfolder.{im-watching-you-dumbass}

After doing so the filename if the technique worked should only look like
this:

secretfolder

To add a giant secret message to the folder just put the secret message on a NOTEPAD or whatever text editor you have then when you add an extension to the folder the folder is locked therefore your message cannot be read by anyone but your friend. To read the secret message your friend has to do somewhat of a long process. In DOS Just CD to the directory you put the file in and then type DIR and you should see a long list of files:

and viola the secret message is in plain view. If your friend wanted to read the secret notepad inside(this is only an example) then he would type:

RENAME secretfolder.{IM-WATCHING-YOU-DUMBASS} (to)secretfolder

without the (to) and the secret folder will magically become unlocked. :-) For some of you that might not work, my suggestions would be to try adding the extension in DOS or for Windows XP I kno it helps to add the CLASSID extension when the folder is in the /local settings/temp/ directory.
