Do you like Robert Palmer? If you do, you're gonna LOVE this album. Tube? Yeah, I like RP. I'm not *nutzoid* about the guy but, every once in a while he 'hits the mark'. This is one of those times.

Let's be up front about this, this a a 'British White Boy Blues' album. It starts with an electric 'big band' Chicago Horn section blues/rock track. "Mama, Tell your daughter about me". I figure this will be the VH - 1 Video. Will he bring back the 'Palmer Babes' (pant, pant)

The album then takes a decidedly different turn into an acoustic afair. Slow/fast/ medium speed 'smokers' make up the remainder of this fine CD.

Highlites include a truly manic version of "Hound Dog" that reminds Tube of Tom Waites on Prozac. This tune is followed by a "drip hot black candle wax on my nipples in the swamp under a new moon" version of Taj Mahal's "Crazy Cajun Cakewalk Band" (one of my all-time fave TM tunes).

All in all, a damn fine album.

Grade: B+

I saw Bob Palmer sing a couple of tracks off the album the other night on the Jools Holland show. Absolutely superb.
