Just to be shure and play safe, I need your advice.

I just download a trial version of Windows Server 2003 Enterprise Edition build 3790. I'm running XP SP2 and I want to try the Windows Server 2003 ;)

Now, what I have to do for dual booting ?

I'm running WinXP and Win98 as dual-boot...To the best of my knowledge, as long as you have two partitions, install the oldest O/S on C:/ first, then point the install of the 2nd to the empty partition, it will set the dual-boot INI up for you (it has for me, several times!)...

with NT, it doesn't matter what you install first

just install 2k3 on another partition or drive, and after it finishes installing you should automatically have both xp and 2k3 in boot.ini, and you'll be prompted at boot time which os you want to boot

install the oldest os first and the latest os last. i know that's the rule for dual booting. but i got another question. my C: is bigger than D: and say i want the latest os been installed in C: right? (assume that i am too lazy to change the primary master and slave and bring the bigger drive to D:).
can we install the older os to D: and then install the latest os in C:?

that's my simple question. anyone tried it out before? thanks.

it shouldn't matter

during NT setup, it scans every volume and looks for windows installs and automatically adds them to boot.ini , so you theretically could have two installs of windows on C: , one in \WinNT and the other in \Windows , not a good idea for obvious reasons, but they would both still be bootable

if you were installing 9x and nt dual boot, you'd have to install 9x first, but i've never seen the order matter if you are doing 2 NT os's

Just use VM Ware v.4, cannot be easier...
You can run anything on XP,
Enterprize edition, for example, takes only 4,095GB, no need for partitioning.

Look .. I have XP SP1 .. ( on C: ) and yesterday i have Install LH 4015 on My Partition G... without Any troubles .......

If we can install in Dual Boot a Alpha version without trouble ..... i think u can Also XP sp2 with W2k3
