I am trying to setup my BulletProof Server and people can't quite get into it to download. It stops after the line entering passive mode. I have set it up just like the tutorial suggested. Is there something WinXP is doing to stop the transfer like the built in firewall. If it is how do I disable it. I want to start sharing the good stuff like others have shared with me. I have just put in Starband Satelite Connection.

He Badawg,
Read your PM. Cheers, Le Cactus |
Hi Folks, from what I have read in the past, a Satellite connection can be quite tricky to deal with. Most of the problems center around timing issues and time delays etc. If this works ok, I am interested in learning how it goes too.;) Best of Luck with this one... :D

Why keep this at PM level? Please let us all benifit from whatever you have to say. As far as I see this is just a help thing, nothing we shouldn't know.

Sorry about the PM level thing but the cure was quite involved. The final answer was that I am using NTSF file system and I had my files protected by default. I right clicked the folder I wanted to share and ok'ed file sharing for network. To be sure I also unchecked all attributes also. Thanks to Le Cactus for his patience in helping me to work this out. I have had a test and all seems well.

Hi All,
Glad I could help out! The reason to keep this kanda a private session was that I wanted to connect to see what went wrong. Since I didn't want the IP address made public I though I could help out by PM. After connecting everything seemd right, but even after a "Transfer OK" no files showed up. I advice to the the NTFS security settings, or the security settings from BulletProof. The first one seemed to be the problem. Anyhow, next time I'll keep it public, and just PM for the IP address. Cheers, Le Cactus |
Understood Le Cactus, thanks for helping Badawg out.
