Step 1 -= Get a Static domain/ip =-

1) Goto http://www.no-ip.com
2) Click on "Sign-up" Free Option
3) Enter your name (If you don't know this your Parents maybe able to help )
4) Enter your e-mail address (not got one? try hotmail.com)
5) Pick Your Country
6) "How did you hear about No-IP?" pick anything
7) Read disclaimer if you can be assed
8) Click on register button
9) Make a cup of tea while waiting for the E-mail
10) Read E-mail
11) Goto http://www.no-ip.com
12) Click on Login (top left corner)
- Login fails repeat from step 10 -
13) Click on "Add a Host" (top left corner)
14) Pick a "Hostname" ( thats the first part like - visual.*****.com)
15) Pick a Domain to use (thats the second part like *****.serveftp.com)
16) Ignore "IP address"
17) Ignore "Assign to group"
18) Click on "Allow Wildcards"
19) Ignore or Mail Options (Not needed)
20) Click on Submit
21) Ignore the Sucess page IP number (Just remember the web address you picked)
- to have more web addresses repeat from step 13 -
22) Click on your OS type (Bottem Right Corner - To Get IP Update Software)
23) Download software
24) Click on downloaded file then install
25) When asked Input your E-mail and password that you used on no-ip.com
26)The No-Ip software should now show the web address you picked at http://www.no-ip.com
27) Tick the box/s next to your web address
28) In the Status bar it should now say "All Hosts: Group DNS is current.

- well done you now have a web address for your computer -

-=Get FTP Server Software=-

I personally recommend "Serv-U 3 Professional" . You can use any other by these instructions are for Serv-U.

To Get Serv-U 3 Professional goto

Download and install

-=Setting up Serv-u=-
After installing Serv-U it should start with a Wizard - Next steps are for that Wizard

1) Click Next
2) Do you want pics in Menu - Just pic YES
3) Make sure nothing is running on port 21!
4) Click Next
5) Serv-U will ask for a IP - Leave this Blank
6) It will now ask for a "Domain Name" Use the one you picked at no-ip.com e.g visual.serveftp.com
7) It nows asks "Do you want anonymous access" for security just pick NO
8) It should now say "Create Named account" pick YES
9) Enter the account name to use
10) Now enter a password for that account
11) You now need a Directory (folder) to let people see so make a folder in "My Documents" Called FTP and enter that folder as your home directory
12) It now says "Lock User in Home Directory" PICK YES YES YES or someone might faq you hard lol
13) Do you want to give any privilege to this account - Normally NO so pick No Privilege then click Next
14) Wake up....i know it's boring
15) Click Finish

Now to set final settings.

1) look at Tree menu on left
2) Under Domains should be your web address
3) Under your webaddress should be Users
4) Under Users should be the name of the account you just made
5) Pick that Account
6) On the Right should now be the options for that User account
7) Read and try understand the options
8) Click on the "General" tab
9) Set the max download speed ( If you don't understand this then leave it blank
10) Set the max upload speed - again If you don't understand this then leave it blank
11) Set the max numbers of users - This depends on Connection speed but try these

56 - 1
ISDN - 3
ADSL - 5
CABLE - 5-6
Higher - then you must ever be using Daddy's computer or know how many users you can take

12) Click on the "Dir Access" tab
13) Click on the path you see there
14) from side menu pick
files-
READ - YES
WRITE - YES
APPEND - YES
DELETE - NO
EXECUTE - NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO DO NOT PICK THIS EVER

directorys -
LIST - YES
CREATE - YES
REMOVE - NO

sub-direcorys
INHERIT - YES
This can be used to set up a radio station if thats what you want to do.
