Hi

I have a Sony RX-301 (UK Version) with a corrupt BIOS. Machine runs (just) but can't add hardware etc. Board was specially made for Sony so manufacturer doesn't offer bios support. Sony dont supply the bios flash with their recovery cds and refuse to supply a replacement (been at them for almost 6 months now with no joy) insisting I have to send the PC to them for repair at my expense - yeah right. And I thought the bios was an essential driver???????.

Please could someone make a backup of their bios from one of these PCs and either post it or mail it to me. All tools available at AMI site.

usually most OEM's use rebranded boards from other companies, for instance, every HP i've ever ran into has had an off branded Asus board in it, and most of the Dell's we use here at school use Intel boards

if you can figure out exactly what kind of motherboard you have, who made it, and what the model it matches to retail wise you can flash the bios that way

for instance, i have an hp at home that refused to let me disable the onboard video so i could put a pci card in it, the board had an Asus MEW-VM (or something to that effect, can't remember the exact model) motherboard in it, I downloaded the bios for that board off of Asus's site, flashed it, and it's been running fine to this day 6 months or so later

just be careful doing that though, make 110% sure you know what you're doing
