Please Help me out:D :D :D
I don't know if this is a problem or not but it kinda worried me...I have 4 sticks of memory installed (2x128, 2x256) P4 rambus. Is it normal for 2 sticks to get incredibly hot and 2 others not at all. It's the 2x256 sticks that are on fire! I reversed the 2 sets around checking if it was the slots, 256er's still hotties. Is that normal for the 256 sticks to get very hot and the 128's not too???
Thanks

Hi mayostudent...well twice the amount of RAM would draw at least twice the power, everything else being equal. Problem is the parts are about the same size as the 128 pieces so the heat cannot dissipate as quickly. Hence the heat buildup. Some "Brands" of RAM chips draw more curent than others too. A different Brand may run quite a bit cooler but might be more expensive (better quality etc.). ;)

i'm using heatsinks on both my 512 sticks and have a fan strategically placed to help with air flow and they stay pretty much at a normal temperature i think.:p

Actually it's not normal. I have seen the same setup on a friend's computer and his sticks did not overly heatup, at least not anymore than the 128s. Maybe the airflow is restricted from reaching your memory area in your case. It's a simple matter to install an small fan board and never hurts to have more cooling regardless.

As long as the computer do not shutdown by itself or application freeze , I think it is ok

Hello, Thanks for the information everyone...The one problem I am having is I get memory errors every so often, somethimes 3 or 4 in a row. I also notice 3DMark scores dropped off alot lately.
Thanks
