Which of the popular firewalls work with W2K3 Server? I've tried Norton Personal Firewall--NG. Zone Alarm 3.7.159. It won't remember trusted zones--for a LAN setup.

Cisco Pix works but then again is not running "on" the server :P :D

CA has a firewall specifically designed for use with servers including 2003

Zone Alarm works fine for me; and remembers trusted zones on a LAN. I have two installations: one on a dedicated file server, and one on my laptop which I use on two geographically different LANs where security is high - absolutely no problem.
Norton/Symantec Internet Security/Personal Firewall are both designed for workstation use and, though installable, require manual starting on any server installation, but I've never had any problems with either app. failing to remember trusted zones. |

In my opinion a firewall has to be run separate and not on a server.
I use Symantec Enterprise Firewall v7.0 on a workstation only for that purpose. My only restriction is TCP/IP and not the software. |
