Hi,

I just finish my download of the latest XP SP2 and the installer always do this :

---------------------------
Service Pack 2 Setup Error
---------------------------
Service Pack 2 Setup canceled.
---------------------------
OK
---------------------------

I have the time to agree to the "eula" and after all is stopping

If someone has correctly install this SP2 please help me ;)

I just extract all the file to a new folder and the same message appears

Hmmm. Mine installed ok. Using an MSI MB with AMD cpu. Sorry, I haven't any ideas. I had SP-1 already installed.

Mine went in like it knew what it was doing.
The only think strange to me is that most programs take an extra 10 seconds to run, but it seems only on the first run.
It might be keeping track somewhere.
I have Prefetch turned off, so it's no that.
Anyone have any thoughts??

mine worked fine upgraded from sp1 = sp2

one thing is that I want to get rid of the ...
"For testing purposes only ...........bla bla bla"
... in the lower right hand corner.

or is it only me who got that on my desktop

richardc2000 30th Mar 03 05:19 PM

Nope I got it too but the OLD bat file for SP1
works fine - just cut and past between the lines
and call it whatever you want.

--------------------------------------------------------------
@echo off
echo Remove sp1 build no from desktop (xpsp1) by wet paper bag (and bophoe)
echo.
echo this will remove "Testing purposes only" and build no from your desktop
pause
echo.
reg delete HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\SystemCertificates\CA\Cert ificates\FEE449EE0E3965A5246F000E87FDE2A065FD89D4 /f
reg delete HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\SystemCertificates\ROOT\Ce rtificates\2BD63D28D7BCD0E251195AEB519243C13142EBC 3 /f
echo.
echo all done, reboot for changes to take effect
pause

Ok BetaOne members,

I have to think and think :D

The only program I found who can block the installation of the XP SP2 1185 was XP-Antispy

I Open the program, load all the default settings and turn off my modem. After the installation was just fine ;)

Reboot the computer, load XP-Antispy, apply the expert settings and turn on my modem. Now all is working just fine :D

You can have XP-Antispy version 3.71 here:

xttp://www.xp-antispy.de

Thanks for your help
