Can anyone give me a dummies guide to converting a PAL SVCD (cue/bin) to NTSC? I have the kOTte version of the full Band of Brothers series, but when playing it I get a jumpy screen, leading me to believe it's PAL encoded. I've tried the tricks on vcdhelp using TMPGENc, but each time I try to load the file I get a an error msg that states "Can not open or unsupported". I've tried extracting the bin to an mpg file using both isobuster and cdmage, no joy for either. So, if someone can lead me to a clearly defined explanation as to how to convert a PAL SVCD to NTSC, I'd be very much appreciative.

Many thanks in advance,

Haven't found a program that gives details of an mpg file, (haven't looked too hard) so what I do is load the extarcted mpg into VCDeasy and see what the specs are. It will let you know if NTSC or PAL by looking at rates and sizes. IN TMPGEnc u need the addon for mpg2, m2v.vfp, to open and work with mpg2 files.
Hope this helps a little.

The problem with converting Pal to NTSC is the difference in frame rates. Pal has a frame rate of around 25 fps and NTSC has a frame rate of around 28 (Can't remember exact rates). If you try to convert the file to NTSC it could end up twice as jumpy.

Try searching for a program called ReMPEG- it's a while since i used it but i'm pretty damn sure it will convert it for you. It will also allow you to alter the size of picture and bitrate for the movie so you can shrink or enlarge the file size
