is there a way to run scandisk in xp? i don't have a clue what version they are running, but i'm assuming its corp. since its at the courthouse.
anyway, they were having some problems and wanted to run scandisk, but the guy that told me to about it just got xp and didn't realize it wasn't in system tools. i don't ever run it or defrag so i didn't know where it was either. thanks. |
Try under Start/Help&Support/PickaTask/UseTools
Are these the disk tools you were looking for? |
you can't run scandisk in XP, only chkdsk, it's nt equivilent
go to a command prompt and type this: chkdsk c: /F replacing c: with the drive letter you want to check if it's fat32, it'll scan automatically and repair, if it's ntfs and it is the system volume, then you'll have to reboot before it can scan |
ok thanks Sepiroth. just emailed him and told him what to do.
