Just an idea.

I like the ability that we as members have to edit our posts as much as we wish. How about the ability to close our own thread when we feel it has outlived its time. Rather than have to ask a MOD. I have no idea if this can
even be done or if others like this idea.

Please comment

It's possible, let's see what other people think about it and if it's a general yes I'll cut it on :D

i agree :D

I like the idea, it would help streamline the process and eliminate useless treads without the mods having to do all of the work.

Yes , I agree wih this idea, it could save the mods some work, many threads seem to stay active well past their use by date.

Sounds good to me.

Yes and no. On one hand it could be a good thing, but on the other it could be abused if the owner closed his own thread during an active discussion for whatever reason.

I personally think threads should only be closed when discussion turns against the rules or becomes abusive. Even tho a discussion might seem outdated there should be no reason for people not to append their ideas or any updates at a later date.

How about just in selected sections.

EDIT - I do think that most of the members would use the feature wisely. For example, the feature that allows members to edit their posting without requring the posting labeled as being edited. I always thought people would change their wording and deny saying what they had previously posted. It don't seem to be the case here and I doubt there would be many problems if we were allowed to close our own threads.

Absolutely not. This is a bad ideea.
I even don't like the function where you can edit your own post.

Most of the time all this could be very nice, in the most perfect of worlds this is how things should be.

As not even B1 is perfect...:) this doesn't work as exspected. The most inflammated flaming threads here has been closed by mods, but most of the time not until they really believed it was time to close to them. This will for certain be abused - abused though out of somebodies point of view, not from another. You are invovlved in your own thread and then maybe don't see things really clear.

Good customs should be to read your text carefully before adding/submitting. Then face it: you have sent it and now it is there. I say: Remove ability to edit posts!

Why should discussions get closed when they appear to be outlived? If they really really are outlived, then they are kinda closed as noone will reply to them...

I just want to be able to edit the title of my post. Accidental misspelling is embarrassing and it happens occasionally, no matter how careful you are. :P

I do agree with Vinnie that it would take some pressure off of the mods, but I too fear that the feature would be abused, especially by newer people here.
