I recently installed a Maxtor DiamondMax Plus9 80GB HD. All went well with the installation its self but within hours I have noticed various intermittent buzzing and popping sounds. They don't seem to be effecting the performance of the drive. I ran the Maxtor tool but it showed no errors.
Has anyone encountered similar sounds?
Drive was installed in a Sony PC w/ a Asus P4B266 board, 512 ddr ram and WinXP home SP1 installed.

i haven't experienced anything like that, but it sounds like something is wrong with it. i'd take it back and request another one.

I have to return 2 maxtor HD in the past year :angry:

They make it cheaper than ever :blink:

The price is really attractive but they ship their drives without any protection (Boxes) I currently have 2 maxtor 60 gigs an I cross my fingers :lol:
