The darn game keeps crashing to the desktop when trying to play. I didn't have this problem before with the previous expansion. I've tried all the suggested fixes and options from the Sims website and no dice. I purchased this game from the store (as well as the original and all the other expansions) so there should be no problems with "bad hacks" and or "burns/images".
I noticed that the diagnostics program that comes with the game indicates that my processor is "-1770MHz" (which is obviously incorrect). I am using a P4 2.53GHz processor and am able to play Diablo II, USAF, and AoE: AoK with no problems. I've updated all the hardware and software drivers for my computer and still no dice. I think the game thinks my processor isn't fast enough to run it so that's why it crashes. Anyone else having this problem? |

I called the tech department and they said that the wrong processor speed had nothing to do with the problem. They suggested I do all the stuff I had already done and then after that, they said they couldn't help me.
Obviously, I couldn't return the game since it was opened, so tried a "No-CD" patch and that seemed to solve the problem. It's pretty sad when a PURCHASED game has to be patched like this to work correctly. Oh well, just in case someone else has similar problems. |
Here's an idea. Take the game back to the store and tell them something is wrong with the CD and it will not install and ask for another one. Most of the time they will give you the replacement title still packaged. Take your new unopened software package to a different store (Wal-Mart would be good) and tell them you received it as a gift. You will receive a store GIFT CARD to use in that store.
Oh ya, make sure you have a copy of the CD image before you do this. Just an idea :D |
