Ok.. at work tomorrow night I have to fix a few group policy problems on about 40 machines..... the only problem is I don't know how the guy that configured the machines did it.... and he doesn't show up for work half the time and is hard as hell to get in touch with, so I'm hoping someone here knows how.....
He configured what I think is run only allowed apps through group policy, but left a few things out like the av scanner, a few pieces of office, the login script, and another misc app, so I need to fix that tomorrow night... the only problem is I have no clue how he actually did it. The apps still run if you launch them from a command prompt just like they normally do under that policy setting on 2K, so I'm positive that has to be the policy he used. It doesn't even show up as enabled in gpedit.msc under user or machine policy, and the one time I physically saw him change the policy on a machine he used another editor other than the MMC snap in, so I assume that's why they're not showing up in MMC. I'm pretty sure the one he used was the same one that was used for NT4, but I dunno what it's called... why he couldn't have just used the modern way of doing it is beyond me  . Anybody know the name of that editor, or anything else I can try to make stuff work? Everything runs fine for Administrator, and the machines aren't on a domain, so there's no domain controller to get in the way. |
Sorry man. You are about six steps outta my knowledge range.

What I'd do if I were you is uncheck everything, and use the standard Win2K Domain/Group policies, cause PolEdit sux :) |

Although if you want to disable Office components like the web toolbar I think you have to use it  So it may be a combo of the mmc and poledit :o Good luck m8 :D  /JD BTW- These links may help :) *http://www.microsoft.com/windows2000...t/gptshoot.asp *http://www.microsoft.com/office/ork/...ree/50t3_2.htm |
