14 days activationyes ,but not 360 days time bomb.am i right?

Sephiroth 28th Feb 03 03:48 AM

i think you are.... i know there will be a 14 day time bomb in there depending on the key you install with, but if it's truly final there shouldn't be any 360 day bomb

try running oobe with a /a switch to see if it'll bring up the activation screen that way

and you actually installed with your beta key? if it really was rtm, then beta / rc cpp keys shouldn't work anymore

Speed_NYC 28th Feb 03 03:52 AM

Then 3771 is?

if it won't install with beta keys, there's not a 360 day time bomb, and all the files are starting to say rtm, then it's at least in escrow or almost through it now, and if it passes escrow and nobody finds a bug, then yes, it'll be declared gold

what i think is going to happen is something like what happened with xp, we all thought (i think it was 2600? correct me if i'm wrong, i'm half way asleep atm lol), was going to be final, but it ended up being a .1, it was the same code, just recompiled with a new version number for the gold build, i think they'll do the same thing with .net and make it 3780 or something like that

I've got this build 3771

Designed for medium to large businesses, Windows Server 2003, Enterprise Edition
is the recommended operating system for servers running applications such as
networking, messaging, inventory and customer service systems, databases, and
e-commerce Web sites. Windows Server 2003, Enterprise Edition delivers high
reliability, performance, and superior business value.

What is the meaning of RTM Preview you ask?

This release is based on build 3771 Enterprise Edition. Which Microsoft has released
to OEM's and perhaps a few other close Microsoft Partners for testing. The orignal
release contains new PID's and requires new product keys.

Knowing that our devoted fans would like a crack at testing this build we have
modified it to accept existing RC keys, other than that this build is exactly
the same as the 3771 build currently under consideration as RTM.

the confusion about it that it wont load the oobe ,that is why we are asking if it is rtm or not. i install a fresh install and an upgrade to 3742 and same results

So what can we do with this build? If we can't actived, and reset patches don't work you can only use it for 14 days.
