Hi
I have been using XP since it was released and for the very first time, I have just got a shutdown problem which appear to have started a few days ago after I installed Easy CD & DVD Creator 6 and I wonder if any other users are experiencing this problem? Problem: When I go to shutdown Windows (Pro) by clicking on START/Turn Off Computer/Turn Off, and hover momentarily over the "Turn Off" button, the display dims from colour and goes to black & white, I then press the "Turn Off" button expecting XP to shutdown and get up from my chair, but nothing happens. I then have to press START/Turn Off Computer/Turn Off, and this time the computer will shutdown. Also, sometimes after pressing "Turn Off", the icons disappear but the computer does not shutdown. Since this problem started a few days ago, I have tried 'logging off' and it looks like it will log off and the display changes but nothing else happens and I had to reboot. I have SP1 + all other updates that have appeared via Windows Update. I have all my normal programs installed and none of those have ever caused this type of problem. The only NEW program that I have installed over the last few days is Easy CD & DVD Creator 6 and the problems seem to have started since then, though that may just be a coincidence. Any help/advice would be appreciated. Regards |

@Brave;
Go to Roxio web site, and download the updates for the proggie;There should be at least 2 of them.. Reboot after installing each one... Then, run MSCONFIG, and make sure all the entries pertaining to Roxio, EZCD Creator, and such are NOT loading at start up... That should solve your problem! Good Luck! wase4711 |
Mine does the same thing except only when I have checked my e-mail with outlook xp. Outlook.exe does not end and a message pops up saying that Outlook.exe not ending task or something to that effect.
Do not have any Roxio software and SP1 and all updates. So if I end task on outlook.exe before shutting down all is fine. Seem as though a clean install may help. |
