Hi,
Just a little question Last week I had 512 megs of DDR 333 in my pc, the free ram was about 250 megs. This week, I put another stick of 512 megs DDR 333 in my pc and the free amount of ram with the same process running is about 520 megs  Where is the 512 megs I have upgrade ? Is this XP taking all of this new ram ? Thanks for your help |
Hey Bads,
My guess is that XP is using that extra ram... Instead of placing info within the pagefile, it throws all that info into ram which it can allocate... Look at all those services running in the background that XP needs to load up. :) It is faster to pull things from ram then your HD... That is just my guess. And of course, I could be way off. :) I hope this somewhat helps answer your question. -SlickVic78 |
also if you have a set pagefile dont forget to change it

Thanks guys,
I have set the pagefile with the recommandation of XP (1gig of ram = 1534 megs of pagefile) And I think XP takes always the more Ram it can ;) This is why I have only 550 megs free now ;) |
Yea I have two pagefiles:
C:\pagefile.sys and C:\pagefil2.sys Used Tweak XP Pro to do this. ANd changed my catch size. |
