Hi,
I just thought MSN Messenger 5 to give a go, although I use 4.6 because I wanna use the Plus! Extension. It install pretty alright, but the thing I worries was, it didn?t remove Windows Messenger as I expected. Isn?t these two the same? Now it is annoying with two Messenger icons in the system tray. I will have to uninstall MSN Messenger?:( Any ideas...? suggestions...? Thanks in advance. :) |
windows messenge and MSn messenger are different programs right? so i dont think it would remove one if u install another.
Correct me if i am wrong |
Use either MSCONFIG or StartUpCPL and stop one of them from loading - also, you can also use the
ALWAYS HIDE setting for the icon you don't want. Start/Settings/Taskbar |
Thanks richardc2000. :)
Damn! Is this Microsoft expect us to do? Suppose an average home user with Windows XP with preinstalled Windows Messenger -- to installs MSN Messenger and get this annoying thing happens. He ends up with two instant messeger programs which is almost the same. Is this Microsoft expect him to have? That's pity....:( |
Well, MS had thought about providing free telephone support - a Messenger Hot Line so to speak. It was supposed to be implimented just before Christmas last year, when MS thought millions of people would be buying new PC's, Broadband connections etc. The present CEO on marketing for MS came up with such a simple plan that he was promoted to CEO from simple salesman. As a result MS killed the free worldwide HotLine for tlelphone suport. Zone M-R from BetaONe, I think, posted his clever but simple solution. This link might work-
