ROADMAPS CAN BE SLIPPERY at the best of times, but there might well be more skidding around than usual in the coming year or two, according to a report over at EETimes. A panel of experts at DesignCon in California has said that, while all the tools and libraries were there, design and process complexities are likely to scupper plans of an early release of 90nm technology.

Where once there was talk of 90nm becoming mainstream in 2004, companies like LSI Logic have now said they don't expect to see a ramp for at least two more years from now. "We have customers looking for 90-nanometer production in 2005 and 2006."
