Hi,

I was all set to install Office 11 until I noticed it won't let me do it without upgrading my Outlook XP (ver 10). I don't want to upgrade my current Office XP software with such an early beta of Office 11. Has anyone got a work-around or suggestion? Anyone using it in place of version 10? If so how buggy is it for every day use?

Thanks,
E3

I don't take a chance to upgrade to a "beta" for the moment ;)

Office XP is working nice for me

I'm using it in place of office 10- i havent had any problems. I think you can install it to a different location can't you? that would keep the existing office apps on yor system.

I tried installing it to a different location, and it will let me do that without replacing the Office XP apps except for Outlook. The only way it will let me install the others is by upgrading Outlook XP to Outlook 11 (which I don't want to do). Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks,

Is there a CUSTOM installation for Office 11?

Wondering whether a Custom install could be made without Outlook or whether you could REPAIR office 10 afterwards to get back Outlook 10.

Of course there is a CUSTOM installation for Office 11.
You can install office 11 without outlook 11 and you can use outlook xp.
The background for office 11 looks good.

thanks fisher - I thought there would be that option
but I was too lazy to burn it and install it to check.

Actually, I *did* replace Outlook 2K2 with Outlook 11 (and also used the 3.00 Office 11 no-activation crack; much thanks to the #betas and #holics teams for distribution of this killer piece of work). Actually, Outlook is one of the most *improved* parts of Office in 11; performance is up, compatibility (especially with POP3 servers) is *way up*; the only *nitpick* is that HTML mail is broken.

You could always do a *custom* install of Office (this is still an option, and has been since Office Pro 4.3) and install/upgrade only selected applications (some people may not want to install Access or FrontPage, for example). I also did the custom upgrade to a *different directory* than my original Office XP.

Except for the HTML mail, I have only good things to say about Office 11 so far.

I did a custom install and only installed Word and Access, I up-graded and everything is working a treat.....A special thank you for the ver 3 crack........KEEP IT UP GUY'S

Hi Guys,

I installed Office 11 today using the 'custom' install and was able to deselect Outlook. I had been trying to do a 'complete' (as opposed to 'upgrade') install to a different location so I could trial Outlook 11 in addition to Outlook XP, but it requires the current version of Outlook to be upgraded.

Thanks for all the great help and advice. You guys are the best!
