You might have heard about the norwegian man Jon Johansen who have been accused for making decss with the intensions of piracy. He won in court and was declared innocent on all charges.

I think the important point here is: creating a tool which could potentially be used for a crime, is not a crime. That would be like locking up Smith and Wesson because people get murdered with guns. :rolleyes:

If you ask me, it just seems like RIAA, MPAA, and anybody else with authoritive monopolistic power over media is trying to strike out in any way they can because they feel they are loosing their control over us as consumers and they certainly can't let THAT happen, can they? Anti-piracy claims are just a convenient excuse to rip away consumer rights! ;) :P

BTW, when did commercialism go from honest balanced commercial trade for money to corporations being blood sucking leaches trying to suck us for every penny they can? It seems like it is a rarity to get anything that has a service attached to it at a decent price any more unless competition is tight.
