This morning everything was fine with my computer and life was getting along fine, then I decided to take a nap. After my nap my wife tells me that she is having problems logging into hotmail thru the msn site, something about an error message saying 'that I need to enable cookies on my computer'. The problem is, I have always had cookies enabled and my wife says she has always been logging into Hotmail thru MSN the same way. Anyhow my problem does not stop there. I then decide to visit Newbieslair and I guess my cookies no longer work because I am asked to Login, something I normally do not have to do since my login info is saved in a cookie. Then I try out lots of other sites and forums and they all ask for me to login.

I have tried everything I could think of but I this problem just won't go away. I have deleted all my cookies and tried setting new ones, I have tried changing the security settings and privacy settings in Internet Explorer options, but to no avail. I just can't get the cookies to be enabled. By the way when at times I have finally succeeded and I log off windows and log back in, guess what the cookies have dissapeared again.

Would sincerely appreciate some help in resolving this issue., because not only is it such a pain to have to repeatedly login to all the various forums and sites I visit regularly, but also I am actually unable to visit some sites which just tell me to enable the cookies before I cna browse/login to that site.

PS: I am using Windows XP Pro Service Pack1 with all Windows Updates installed. I have not installed anything on my computer for atleast a week and also have not made any changes to my settings.

Heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeelp!

Only thing I can think of is that you may have some prog such as cookie patrol or pest control thats playing up , suppose you could try creating another accout in xp and seeing whether that keeps the cookies without deleting them ..........other than that I cant be of much help

Thanks but I don't have any such programs installed.

Do you have McAfee VirusScan and Firewall ? Because the program block some cookies ;)

You have an icon in the bottom of the page in IE, double-click on it and set to always accept cookies from the website you want

hmm

start, run, %userprofile%\coookies\ and hit ok

delete everything in there except for index.dat to make sure that they're actually being cleared, and then try again mabye?

Thanks everyone, I figured out the problem finally and everything seems fine now. The whole thing turned out to be quite silly actually. I had changed my system clock to 2004 for some reason and then had forgotten to change it back. Somehow that was what caused all the problems and as soon as I changed the clock back to the correct date the cookies started working just fine. Style XP did not like this and started acting up is a whole new story. :)

Thanks all.
