when is it freezing? is it during "Saving Your Settings"? I know xp had a problem with that and M$ made a fix for it, but that was some time a go, sees like sp1 would of fixed it. hmmmm /me thinks some more lol

if you're using "xp anti-spy" and have it set to "clear page file on shutdown" , it will cause some sysytems to hang.

@RadiationBoy
thanx m8, checked da ms site n even downloaded a fix. when I tried to apply da fix it tells me wrong version???? oh well thanx for your time buddy. ;)

@doder

Next time you boot, go into safe mode and try a shutdown from there.
If it works fine, you might want to suspect a program or driver update you recently did.
Think about any changes you recently made or use msconfig to try to narrow down a conflict by removing everything from the startup and re-enabling them a few at a time till the problem happens again.
Best of luck,
Dave
