This is something I noticesd for while. You know, sometimes when I download files by a 56k (=7K) modem, I get initial speeds like 29K! and it reduces 27K, 25K, 19K, 17K, 11K, 6K, 5K like that and then stays in an average constant speed around 5K. The question I have is, how come the initial speed rises upto more than 7K? :o
Because the 56k modem, afaik can handle maximum of 7K of data, I feel it is impossible that to happen. I have seen many times that happens - starts from like 25K and then reduces down to below 7K. I can't believe that happens! I am lost...:( Do you guys know why? :) |
I think it may be that when you click a download , it actually starts and is buffered while you select the storage location of filename , as the buffer is stored the average speed is recalculated hence the rapid drop in speed.
I have noticed it only with IEplorer downloads , when running thru a download manager the speed seems more constant. |
Sometimes,
I hit a 14 or higher score with Flashget too ;) But the average is about 5k with my 56k modem  |
Thanks for the replies guys, samething happens for me in FlashGet like for Bads_1, I mean having speeds more than 7K in a 7K modem !! I am asking how is that?
